declined?
editWhat does "declined" mean in the table. Was a transaction declined? Did the bank decline to provide info?
I suggest removing any bank that has a "declined" next to it. It is better to treat it as equivalent to the thousands of smaller banks that you have no information on. Mrkstvns (talk) 23:41, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- It means that the transaction was declined and withdrawing money from that ATM is not possible (it would usually pertain to all foreign cards).
- If the wording is confusing, alternative wording suggestions would be appreciated.
- However I'd be against removing the information altogether, as it is still relevant and might save somebody a trip to an ATM. That would be especially important in countries where ATMs could be hundred kilometers apart, and again these are the places where cards are more likely to be rejected. - The wording isn't the problem. The problem is the utility of a "declined" transaction. Without specific information about ''why'' a transaction was declined, it is utterly useless. Were you trying to use a card on an unsupported network? Were you trying to use an ATM that is only for local customers (BBVA does this in Mexico.....they may have a bank of ATMs, but only a couple specially designated ATMs support foreign withdrawals.) In Nicaragua, some ATMs will do foreign transactions if you have a card with a MasterCard logo, but will decline it if you have a Visa, while most countries treat them interchangeably. My point is, transactions can be be declined for a number of reasons and just because one traveler had a transaction declined doesn't mean that anyone else will. I still see utterly ZERO value in listing banks with "declined" next to them and I feel STRONGLY that all of them should be removed. Mrkstvns (talk) 23:40, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
