Talk:Bray (Ireland)

Is there any way to just delete this entry? I've just come from Bray (I'm touring Dublin now) and I must say that going to Bray is a complete and total waste of time. It's just a tourist ripoff town now - with very little to offer.

If it's a tourist trap, we should definitely note that in the article, but we maintain articles for everywhere. Check Project:Avoid negative reviews—we don't like to bash places, just explain who should visit and who should not. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 18:47, 24 August 2008 (EDT)
OK, I've made some changes based on my recent experience there. I guess if someone considers what I wrote "bashing" then they can just restore the article back to it's old self. I also edited the Get in --> By train section to reflect a price increase to €2.50 (from €2.10). (WT-en) Grimlock 04:12, 27 August 2008 (EDT)

The visitor's claim that Bray is a tourist trap is contentious, Venice or Bruges could also be described as Tourist traps, but it doesn't stop anyone visiting them! Bray is a quiet town and is well placed for exploring both Dublin and Wicklow. He just didn't visit the right places, so I've added a number of interesting things to do and see.

Once again, someone uses Wikivoyage to steer unsuspecting tourists into insignificant places that are of little interest to most people. In fact, I've since spoken with two other people that had the unfortunate experience of going to Bray and they were both *Very* disappointed. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the above "contributor" was a hotel or restaurant owner in the area. (WT-en) Grimlock 15:56, 13 October 2008 (EDT)

In Aug 2020 this page was overhauled, along with the rest of County Wicklow. Bray is a substantial place with many visitor amenities. As elsewhere, these should be described factually to let the prospective visitor make his / her own decisions; touting-gush and slagging-off both get in the way of that.
