Subregions
editAfter moving towns from OD to cities, the number of cities are 16. I suggest we split the region in the three subregions already listed: Northern Dalmatia, Central Dalmatia, Southern Dalmatia. At the same time that means that the present subregion of Makarska Riviera (incorrectly listed as other destination) will be deleted/redirected increasing the total number of cities further. One other way to do it would be to create regions for some of the larger island, but I do not think that we need that for now. Any thoughts?, --(WT-en) ClausHansen 04:18, 5 August 2010 (EDT)
- I vote for 4 subregions: Northern Dalmatia, Central Dalmatia, Makarska Riviera and Southern Dalmatia. I think that Riviera should has own subregion of course. --Voll (talk) 20:21, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Voll, it's nice to meet you here. I'll vote for 4 subregions too, but I suggest we follow the Croatian Tourist Board and use the 4 counties: Zadar County, Šibenik-Knin, Split-Dalmatia (or Central Dalmatia), and Dubrovnik-Neretva (or Southern Dalmatia). Northern Dalmatia would be removed in favour of the first two. Makarska Riviera, which is just a stub, would be replaced by Split-Dalmatia. If that article ever got too big, then Makarska Riviera could be split off again (excuse the pun). At this stage it doesn't seem to make much sense to have one article for Makarska Riviera and another for "rest of Central Dalmatia". Besides, there are many other rivieras in Dalmatia.
- Everything seems easier if we have alignment between:
- Local government counties
- Tourism Board
- Wikipedia (for links to and from WV)
- WV
- I'm not entirely sure what names we would use. I suggest the county names as I gave above, unless there are good reasons to use names like Central Dalmatia and Southern Dalmatia. Nurg (talk) 07:50, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
- I've got your idea and it is OK for me. I prefer articles with the counties names. Main issue - we will have 11 cities in Split-Dalmatia. I am working in Russian and Ukrainian WV mainly and I read in the Pub that administrators in English Wikivoyage don't like to delete empty articles. Could we move text from Ruskamen, Brela, Promajna and Drvenik articles to "Go next" sections in Omis, Makarska and Baska-Voda articles and delete these empty articles? After that we can have 7 cities in the region. --Voll (talk) 17:22, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
- I have created Split-Dalmatia and Dubrovnik-Neretva. When I added all the Northern Dalmatia cities to that article, I found it was not necessary to split it until it grows bigger. So I ended up coming back to Claus's suggestion of 3 regions, but used the county names for the new articles. I think the number of cities in Split-Dalmatia is ok, because I have put them in two groups (one for Makarska Riviera). Nurg (talk) 07:32, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

Dalmatia Trekking
editDoes that listing past muster with Project:Activity listings#Tour listings? I have my doubts, but it's not obvious enough for me to want to just delete it now without getting others' opinions. Thanks, everyone. (WT-en) Ikan Kekek 12:45, 5 May 2011 (EDT)
