Talk:Dammam
Do
editI've culled this section from the article because, as someone resident near here, I find it of suspect accuracy. I have a lot of trouble believing that there are pub and nightclubs in KSA - particularly the former given it is a dry country. I've tried to find Google hits for any of the listed clubs (using the .com.sa version) and drawn a blank. Google is also having trouble confirming the named district even exists within Dammam, and Wikipedia is also lacking of this District on its Dammam page (I have tried both using Fardaws and the possibles Fordaws and Firdaws).
I'm also reluctant to trust the summer sports section. There is much talk of tourism from other countries, but this is very unlikely to happen given the difficulty of obtaining Visas. Most summer sports tourists will be from within KSA, perhaps of these nationalities. Also, while the average summer temperature may be 35degC, it is more realistically in the mid-40s, and feels much hotter given the humidity - I saw a heat index in the area over 60degC last summer, and regular shade temperatures in excess of 40degC!
Anyway, I've kept the text below just in case someone wishes to confirm any of it as accurate. The above is just based on my knowledge of the general area and KSA in general. (WT-en) Nrms 07:52, 8 March 2010 (EST)
- Dammam is well known for its "wild" nightlife. Numerous pubs and nightclubs are located in the center of the city, whereas many more are located on the suburbs of the city. "Al-Fardaws" (heaven in arabic) is a district reputated for its high society clubs such as club 55, Godot, ClearSky and many more. DJs from all over the world come and celebrate in Dammam (Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, Armen Van Buren... and many more). Fan of summer sports? Dammam is your Eldorado. From sand-skying to scubadiving and parasailing, Dammam has it all. Its golden sands remind tourists from all over the world, of the very beautiful Varna. Beaches in Dammam represent a tourist attraction, drawing many visitors from Germany, France, Russia, and eastern Europe attracted by the scenic landscape, the reasonable prices and the favourable climate. In fact, Dammam ,in opposite to most cities in Saudi Arabia, benefits from a tropical moderate climate throughout the whole year. During summer, temperatures can get as high as 35, in the winter they usually range between 20 and 30 making it possible to swim throughout the whole year.
