Regions
editChubbyWimbus placed a link on the Regions Map Expedition for the Wikipedia article that the provinces can be divided into three regions. I'm not so sure. The Bijagós Archipelago are the only destination in G-B I've heard about and they seem to be a popular tourist draw...so I think they should be their own region (the archipelago corresponds with the Bolama region). Geographically speaking, the interior is forest-savanna whereas the coast is mostly mangrove swamps and forests. I'm not sure what differences there are between coastal areas to the north and south of the Rio Geba. If we can't find any, then the regions should be (using this map):
- Bijagós Archipelago (Bolama)
- Interior Guinea-Bissau (Gabu, Bafata)
- Coastal Guinea-Bissau (others)
Does this seem good? (WT-en) AHeneen 02:57, 26 January 2010 (EST)
- Looks okay to me. It's nice when the political boundaries are also good travel boundaries. (WT-en) ChubbyWimbus 04:16, 27 January 2010 (EST)
- Hmm, this is another very small country (half the size of West Virginia) with a population of just over 1 million, very low economic activity, a marginal tourist sector, and very little content on Wikivoyage. I'm not sure regions make sense at this point. That said, we should have an article for the Bijagós Archipelago. If not breaking down the country yet, that could be either listed as the sole subregion, or as an OD. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 20:21, 28 January 2010 (EST)
- I agree that Guinea-Bissau does not need regions. Bijagos Archipelago could easily be treated as an OD as proposed. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 21:38, 31 January 2010 (EST)
