Which prefecture

edit

ChubbyWimbus, nothing south of Yoshino is in Mie prefecture... Wakayama at best, but not Mie. Perhaps there's another Kumano you're talking about? At least the place that I started this page about is in Nara. (WT-en) Azolotkov 01:38, 3 August 2009 (EDT)

You sure about that? Even the Kumano City website says they're in Mie. It's in that long, narrow strip of land at the far southwest of the prefecture, between Nara and the ocean, east of Wakayama: [1] - (WT-en) Dguillaime 01:48, 3 August 2009 (EDT)
...though as I double-check the map, I see that the "10-15 km south of Yoshino" is an apparent error, since it's quite a bit farther than that and to the southeast, not south. There doesn't seem to be much of anything in the position given, so I've removed that line. - (WT-en) Dguillaime 01:55, 3 August 2009 (EDT)
Yes, the city is definitely in Mie prefecture. Mie extends westward along the coast, meeting Wakayama below Nara prefecture. If you are referring to Kumano Sanzan, the pilgrimage route (and World Heritage Site), those shrines are nearby in Wakayama. (WT-en) ChubbyWimbus 01:53, 3 August 2009 (EDT)
I stand corrected, Kumano City indeed is in Mie Prefecture. The camping trip that I went on was mislabeled as Kumano, and I started this article based on that mislabeling. The actual trip was to Tenkawa-mura and the surrounding area, which is closer to Yoshino than to Kumano. I'm guessing the article should be either renamed to Tenkawa-mura, or blown away. Ah, that makes sense. Since Kumano is still an actual city, the page might as well remain however, you should definitely move the current content to a Tenkawa page (the "mura" can be left out, since it just means "village/town"). As you say, Tenkawa is in Nara Prefecture. Once that page is created, you can then add what you know from your travels! (WT-en) ChubbyWimbus 22:01, 3 August 2009 (EDT)
Done. Can you give it a quick check to see if I did everything right? (WT-en) Azolotkov 22:06, 3 August 2009 (EDT)
I added a couple of missing sections, but the page looks good to me! I'll add a link to it from Nara Prefecture. (WT-en) ChubbyWimbus 22:26, 3 August 2009 (EDT)
Return to "Kumano" page.
