Neo-Nazis

Can we please mention the fact that there is a disturbing concentration of extreme right activity in this part of Germany, and that tourists should be reminded to excersise care. This especially applies at night time, and even more so if you are black or asian.

List of Airlines

I hesitate to throw away somebody else's work, but is it necessary to list all the individual airlines that operate at Leipzig/Halle airport? Most of them just connect Leipzig with a few holiday resorts around Europe, and seem utterly irrelvant to the majority of those travelers trying to get to Leipzig. —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) Tuerpe (talk • contribs)

Map of passages

I see your points. Please let me explain my reasoning. The city center of Leipzig has as a peculiar feature a system of about 30 passages and courtyards. Some are sights in their own right; the article lists a few that may attract tourists. Others are by themselves pretty boring, but may still interest travellers that want to explore the entire system or a particular historical place. I agree in principle with the idea that information should be worked into the article. However, I see two obstacles in this particular case. First, listing all the 30 passages would make the article encyclopedic in this respect, which as I understand is a non-goal. Second, no map of the locations of the passages seems to be available that would be properly licenced for inclusion in Wikivoyage; otherwise I would have uploaded it. Such a map seems useful as general city maps may lack that information. In addition to that, it seems that the linked leaflet is difficult to find through the tourist information pages linked elswhere in the article. Since I'm new to Wikivoyage, I'll just ask: what is the preferred way of providing the best value to travellers given these tradeoffs? By the way, I wouldn't call it a map service, it's a PDF leaflet which includes one specific map alongside other information. -- (WT-en) Tuerpe 19:36, 19 January 2011 (EST)

Thanks. All the information seems to be there, but I see labels for the passages only when I zoom into the map as far as possible. As I'm not familiar with technical aspects of OSM, is there any easy way of overriding the automatic display, or omission of labels depending on the zoom level? What I think would be most useful in context is an overview map of the inner city with labels for just a few reference points, but for all of the passages.

It's possible to extract the underlying data from OpenStreetMap and produce a customised map (selecting which detail is shown, and in what style -- colour, line thickness etc). However, it's more than a five minute task. I've been experimenting with TileMill recently, I might see what I can do (WT-en) Symbiote 09:25, 21 January 2012 (EST)
