Waitakere/Piha

edit

Hi Tom,

I'm not sure that Waitakere/Piha meets the criteria set forth in Project:What is an article?. Attractions, such as a beach, are almost always listed in the town or region that contains them, with exceptions made for attractions that aren't located anywhere near a town such as Stonehenge, or huge attractions such as Disneyland. The reasoning behind that is it is more convenient for travelers if each Wikivoyage article is a comprehensive guide, thus putting all information in one place where it can be easily printed. If Piha doesn't meet the article criteria then it should be marked for deletion and added to Project:Votes for deletion. If you feel that it is worth keeping it might be useful to provide a note about why this beach is different on its talk page. -- (WT-en) Wrh2 02:04, 1 Sep 2005 (EDT)

Thanks for the heads up. I felt that Piha warranted its own article as alot of people coming to Piha (which is an isolated community from the rest of Auckland) are surfers, whose only purpose is to go to Piha. Therefore wanted to build it into a more comprehensive article for them. Will make mention of this fact in talk page. --(WT-en) Tomwebbnz 15:33, 2 Sep 2005 (EDT)
In that case, rather than making it a district of Waitakere, let's move it to its own article. In general districts are only created for regions within larger cities. -- (WT-en) Wrh2 16:50, 2 Sep 2005 (EDT)
What is the best way of doing that? --(WT-en) Tomwebbnz 17:10, 2 Sep 2005 (EDT)
Already done. In the future you can just use the "move" button at the top of the page to move an article from "Old Name" to "New Name". -- (WT-en) Wrh2 17:18, 2 Sep 2005 (EDT)
Return to "Piha" page.
