I removed the following from the guide for data mining. (WT-en) Maj 12:30, 20 December 2006 (EST) Puerto Limon is a main city for cruise ships traveling through the Panama Canal. The town is very poor and can use your tourist dollars. Our guide suggested buying our souvenirs in this city rather than from the tour company for which he worked -- a nice gesture to help the people in the area rather than the major tourism companies.

From Puerto Limon we took an excursion white water rafting on the Reventizon River. Our guides were excellent and the day was beautiful! We floated down the river for approximately 90 minutes, traversing class 2 rapids (beginning level). Along the way, we saw a couple of sloths in the trees as well as the lush forest and cool water. It was a great trip with very welcoming local hosts. Do it if you get the chance!
