Talk:Quad Cities

Am I the only person editing this page from the area? There was some push to call the area the "quint cities", but it never caught on. Whether it is seen as having four or five anchor cities depends on your perception of each area's value. Most of the people I've known agree th that bettendorf,davenport,moline,east moline and rock island compose the "quad" cities. I've heard alternating accounts that bettendorf didn't really spring up until the seventies or eighties, long after the term "quad city" was employed, and that East Moline seceded from Moline sometime in the eighties, also after the origination of the term. Ones view of which cities compose the "quad" cities probably centers around whichever view of history one adheres to. Its all rather unimportant though...i assure you, no one inside the 80/280 beltway, and very few in the surrounding communities hesitate to lable themselves with the term "Quad Citians".

The "island" is the rock island aresenal, a large munitions manufacturing campus.

I've started this page as a small region containing the 4 cities. There's some argument to be made to have it just be a large virtual city; I'll let people with more smarts about the 4Cs make that call. --(WT-en) Evan 08:11, 19 Jan 2005 (EST)
