Talk:Twin Falls

huh?
editI marked this one as patrolled before looking at it too closely - the previous article provided information for travelers about base jumping, and the new article is a disambiguation page that doesn't link to any articles and includes as its topics two bridges. I'm not sure that this is an improvement since we've lost potentially valuable content and replaced it with a disambiguation page without any value. Anyone care to comment? Otherwise I think the disambiguation change should be rolled back. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 14:00, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- How about creating a Base jumping Travel Topic similar to Scuba diving and moving the old content (with some reformatting) there? --(WT-en) NJR_ZA 14:16, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- I think that makes more sense - perhaps instead of Base jumping the new topic could be more broad, like Extreme sports, and we can always split off a new article if needed. Also note that I don't think the original content met the Project:What is an article? criteria, but there was some useful information within the narrative, while the new disambiguation page seems like a more questionable bit of content since disambiguation pages typically are used to disambiguate articles with similar names, rather than non-article topics. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 14:40, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- The "previous article" / "old" content is a duplicate of the content of http://www.overtheedgebungee.com/AboutUs.htm (Copyright © 2007 Over the Edge Inc. - All rights reserved) ~ 61.91.191.8 14:47, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- Thanks. So would it then make more sense to just redirect this article to Twin Falls? -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 14:54, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- That was what I intended to do, but then I discovered that there are two "Perrine" bridges, each with very interesting claims to fame and both of interest to tourists/travellers - hence I disambiguated instead, and I can't see any problem with that. ~ 61.91.191.8 15:06, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- In the past when we've redirected an attraction or some other article that doesn't meet the Project:What is an article? criteria it has been done to avoid having someone recreate a new article with the attraction name. A disambiguation page is typically used only when two places meeting the Project:What is an article? criteria have common names. In this case none of the what-is-an-article criteria are met, so it seems to me to be a bit of a slippery slope to create a disambiguation page. - (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 15:22, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
- Since there wasn't any further discussion I've moved the page. If I've jumped the gun feel free to revert. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 23:13, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
Ideas for the Twin Falls Banner
editI have two ideas for the banner photo:
- A statue of the first surveyor of Twin Falls, John Hayes, by David LaMure, Junior. (Here's an article of the already unveiled statue, which can be seen in the downtown area.)
Other ideas are welcome. --Lo Ximiendo (talk) 03:21, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
