Of all the Waterloo's in the world, I think the Belgian one (the original?), where Napoleon did surrender as ABBA sung, is the best known. So that one should be just "Waterloo". (WT-en) DhDh 12:05, 19 Nov 2003 (PST)

The Belgian one is just a small suburb of Brussels with no real attractions other than the battlefield. I'd say Waterloo, Ontario is more important and has more sights and attractions than Waterloo, Belgium (WT-en) Acton01 16:03, 13 January 2009 (EST)

I think we need to think about how to deal with Kitchener-Waterloo. It's a bit pointless to have them apart, considering that they have merged. They could be on one page with distinct districts of Kitchener and Waterloo perhaps. Basically, some Kitchener info has creeped on to the Waterloo page anyways: For example: Oktoberfest is a tradition carried on now by the Kitchener-Waterloo area, but it cannot be disputed that it is tied to the Germanic tradition of the former city of Berlin, ON, now called Kitchener. "Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo”aren't really known internationally (I went to one of them and never has anyone from outside Canada heard of either). Although I once saw UW mentioned as "the home of Canada's best Geeks" or somethine on PBS. Much as I love WAterloo, it's just Canadian suburbia.

I disagree, at least with regards to UW engineering. Most of the American engineering students I've talked to know Toronto and Waterloo and that's it for Canadian universities. UW engineering is a well renowned program. I'm a co-op student at RIM from Memorial University, and I have to say, I hate Waterloo. This city is boring, has awful weather and worse food.
