Tettnang is a town of 20,000 people (2020) in the Lake Constance (Bodensee) region of Baden-Württemberg about 10 km from Friedrichshafen. The region produces a special variety of hops, an ingredient of beer, and ships it to breweries throughout the world.

New Palace (Neues Schloss)
  • 1 New Palace (Neues Schloss), Monfortplatz 1. One of the three castles of Tettnang.
  • 2 Old Castle (Altes Schloss), Montfortplatz 7. The building from 1667 is now used as town hall.
  • 3 Gate Castle (Torschloss).
    • 4 Monfort Museum, Montfortstraße 43 (in the Gate Castle). The museum shows the history of Tettnang.
  • 5 Hop Museum (Hopfen Museum), Hopfengut 20, Tettnang-Siggenweiler, +49 7542 952206. The museum is built in three historic houses around a modern fully functional oast. The museum shows the development of hop growing and the history of beer brewing.
  • Tettnang Hop Trail. A 4-km (or about 8-km round trip) hiking or cycling trail with information signs along the way about hops. Start- and endpoints are the Kronen-Brauerei (in the town centre) and Hop Museum. See online map.
  • Tettnang Hops Circuit. A 42-km round trip cycling tour through Tettnang and its region (including Friedrichshafen and parts along Lake Constance). The route has a total ascent of about 160 m. There a signs (black bicycle on green arrow) along the way. See online map.
