To whom it may concern,

I write to you as a Victorian and an avid volunteer editor of Wikivoyage, a free, online travel guide recently launched by the Foundation that runs Wikipedia. I am currently working to improve the articles about VIctoria, and thought it may be beneficial to contact local tourism boards with information about Wikivoyage.

From the above link, you can see that the coverage and detail of the Ballarat article is lacking significantly. I think the tourism board and City of Ballarat may be able to contribute to a project of improving the coverage of Ballarat, and possibly surrounding townships. Some useful information can be found at the following link:

Some benefits of utilising Wikivoyage are many, but include: -Wikivoyage has gone up the Alexa rankings over 50,000 places in the last month. -Wikivoyage is now linked to from nearly every location article on Wikipedia -Wikivoyage received a large amount of news coverage lately, from both international and Australian outlets -Wikivoyage recently formed a deal with PediaPress printing to create on-demand printed travel guides for sale.

I personally am simply a volunteer and wish to increase both the prominence of Wikivoyage and coverage of Victoria. I hope that the City of Ballarat and the tourism board are able to assist in this goal. Please contact me with how you wish to contribute or any additional questions.

With regards,
