Toys and games have existed since antiquity, even though they've not always been the childhood amusements the english language ascribes to the word 'toy'.

- National Transport & Toy Museum, beside Wanaka Airport, Wanaka, New Zealand. Daily (except 25 Dec) 8.30am-5pm with extended hours in summer. Has aircraft, cars, trucks, motorcycles, fire appliances, military vehicles and tractors, clockwork and battery powered toys.

- 2 Hamilton Toy Museum, Callander, Scotland. Easter - October: M-Sa 10:30-16:30, Su 12:00-16:30. 5-room museum of traditional children's toys (cars, model soldiers, dolls, etc.) and shop. £3.
- 3 Hornby Visitor Centre, Westwood Industrial Estate, CT9 4JX (near Margate). Exhibition of Hornby model railways, Airfix models and Corgi car models. See traditional British children's toys.
