Both villages are located on the A862 (the old A9) between Dingwall and Inverness. The A832 runs east-west and provides connections to nearby Fortrose and Cromarty, as well as west coast destinations Ullapool and Gairloch.

By train

Beauly and Muir of Ord both have train stations with service from the Kyle Line and the Far North Line, providing connections to Inverness, Thurso, Wick and Kyle of Lochalsh.

The remains of a monastic priory first built in the 13th century. Little used after the Reformation, the buildings fell into disrepair or the stones were used in new buildings.
