Not for profit

First off, nice cathedral photo. Secondly, just to be clear, there is nothing in the CC-SA that prevents using content for profit. The only requirement is that credit be given, so if you agree with those terms you may want to remove the "not for profit" disclaimer, and if you disagree it would be best to remove the images. Playing art critic

The images that work best for me are Image:Kateri.jpg (nice composition, lighting & detail), Image:Museum Hill.jpg (interesting sky, and a very cool statue), and Image:St Francis Cathedral.jpg (horizon line is a bit crooked, but it's an awesome sky and a cool church). Image:Santuario (V).jpg (superseded by Image:Santa Fe Santuario.jpg on WT Shared -- BotH) is a very cool photograph with the trees, but unless that's a really famous church it may not work as well within a travel guide since it doesn't necessarily illustrate something that's uniquely Santa Fe. Image:Palace of Govs.jpg (superseded by Image:Santa Fe Palace of Govs.jpg on Wikivoyage Shared -- BotH) and Image:Museum Christmas.jpg illustrate a cool market, but it's not really clear from the pictures that it's a market.

They're all good shots, so any of them could work well in the article, but the three above are the ones that most jumped out at me. You might want to solicit feedback from (WT-en) Jpatokal as well, since he's a bit more of a professional photographer while I'm just a guy who schlepps a camera to cold places. -- (WT-en) Ryan 00:39, 10 Dec 2005 (EST)

Thanks for the input. The Santuario is indeed a "famous" church, if not as famous (or ornate) as St. Francis, and the Museum Christmas shot is of the portico of a museum, not a market. There's stuff in the main Santa Fe article that connects to all of these -- I think. (May have to add a little on the museum; I'll check.) Sorry, my brain saw "locals selling items" and immediately went to market, even though the caption clearly said museum. In addition, if the church is being featured in the article (it's late and I'm too lazy to verify) then Image:Santuario (V).jpg would be a great illustration photo, otherwise I'd go with the photos that more obviously display architecture, art and other items that are uniquely Santa Fe. Me professional? Har! I've been paid once and I thought it was just somebody pulling a practical joke on me until the bank transfer actually arrived.

Anyway, I also think the cathedral shot is the best for the front page, the horizon tilt isn't really noticeable and the unusual angle & sharp contrast make it interesting. I also like the adobo architecture pic, although it might be stronger if cropped into a square, and is perhaps more "New Mexico" than "Santa Fe". Museum Hill would also make a nice page filler pic. LOL ... kinda like me and music. I've actually been paid twice for that; the first time to perform, the second time not to.

Anyway, based on various inputs, I've moved Kateri (who will become the first American Indian woman to be a saint of the Catholic church, if they ever get around to canonizing her -- she's already been beatified) to the frontispiece of the article, while St. Francis Cathedral and the Portal are at appropriate places within it. I'll also take your advice on cropping the adobe shot when I get a few minutes, and replace it (it's currently part of the New Mexico page as you suggested).
