Wikivoyage:Event article status

This page describes the criteria for determining the article status of Event articles. For information about event articles in general, see Wikivoyage:Event articles.

Status Name Description
1 Stub An article with little or no information, or not formatted even close to the manual of style. An otherwise-valid article without an article skeleton template may hold this status briefly; adding an appropriate skeleton promotes the article to "outline". A page which has little or no prospect of becoming an article (or being redirected to an article) would be tagged for speedy {{delete}} or nominated for {{vfd}} if what little information it conveys does not meet Wikivoyage's goals. Additionally, event articles also may be speedy deleted at any admins discretion.
2 Outline Has at least the normal introductory paragraph (this can be as short as a single sentence describing what the event is, where it is) and an outline of headers laid out for the article, similar to standard Wikivoyage destination templates. Some of the sections of the outline may have content, but not all of them.
3 Usable Has at least a good overview of the event, and some useful material under each heading. It may also explain why someone would want to go to that event, but also must include the highlights of the event
4 Guide Effectively covers most aspects of the event with no obvious omissions. If practical and the event occurs over multiple locations, it should contain a listing of relevant destinations. The format should closely match the manual of style. Must have a custom page-banner if this is happening repetitively (e.g. every year), it should be a pagebanner of previous events of that type. If this is a one off event, then the banner should be about that type of event in general.
5 Star Has a tourist-style map with point-of-interest markers showing all the main attractions, eateries, accommodations, visitor centres and routes between the events. The format either matches the manual of style exactly or is the exception that proves the rule. Prose is not only near-perfect grammatically but also tight, effective, and enjoyable. At least one good-quality photo accompanies the article; preferably 2-3 showing famous or important areas of the event. While this might sound easy, an event article is quite hard to elevate to star level since it takes about 3-21 weeks for an article to get promoted to star, and by then, the event would be over.
