Chennai is one of the most important and populous cities in India. This article accordingly presents a mass of information. However, it is not that well organized. Many of the listings are just a name or a name and address, without description. And are there too many of them? Should the city be districted? If you have an opinion about this, please state it at Talk:Chennai#Listings and possible districting. In addition, there are 18 footnote-style external links that must be converted into front-links. To summarize, this mass of text needs has its good points, but it needs an overhaul. And turning this article, whether districted or not, into a Guide should be a top priority for this expedition.

Madurai is an important and famous city, a place of pilgrimage and history. Making this a Guide-level article is a good project, but one that will require a thorough edit and additional information on the location of some listings. In the "Eat" section (just renamed from "Food"), there are idiosyncratic codes that I don't think we want to allow for a single article; instead, the contents of those codes should be put into prose in each listing, as relevant. A city map is also needed and could be extremely helpful.

Ooty was moved from the now-deleted "Hill stations" line of "Other destinations" to the "Cities" section. This is a decent Usable article. In order to make it a Guide, the listings need to be templated, with location information added. The "Do" section is particularly problematic, as some of the recommendations are for seeing things, buying things, and for a trip to a place that's in "Go next". "Do" is for activities, not a catchall section for recommended things to do, in the broadest sense of the word. It would be great to improve this article to Guide status and nominate it for a feature.

The first and most obvious task is to fix the structure: There are many instances of ALL CAP TEXT, "See" listings need bolding, etc., etc. After that, an "Understand" section that's more than a listing would be nice, Commons should be linked and images should be added, and listings should be turned into real, templated listings with more info than just a name and perhaps an address.

Lacks a "Get around" section ("Go next" listings had been there). "Learn" section is questionable; perhaps the Hindi institute should remain, as it's interesting and unusual for foreigners. The whole article needs a thorough copy edit, both for aspects of English-language writing and structure (e.g., should the yoga school really be in "Cope," rather than "Do"?), and many listings need more information. Also lacks images (there is a single one).
