Wikivoyage talk:Logbook archives

Logbooks haven't been up to date since June 2006 edit

It is tedious work, but what needs to be done is search for "July 2006" which will give all the log entries for that month. Those need to be added to the Project:July 2006 page.. and so on, till March 2007.

And it would be great if significant milestones were updated on the Project home page. There must be a better way to maintain the ship's log. — (WT-en) Ravikiran 08:23, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

I'd very much like to use the Calendar Extension for MediaWiki to do that. Wikevent News works really well, and I think it would be helpful here. --(WT-en) Evan 10:50, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Archiving edit

Should we just bury all of this into an archive? --Peterfitzgerald (talk) 17:31, 9 September 2012 (CEST)

Not sure what you mean exactly, but I think we could at least merge all the separate day pages into the month pages. Now we have a huge amount of pages with just one or two sentences in them. --Globe-trotter (talk) 19:05, 7 October 2012 (CEST)

Logbook archive edit

Swept in from the pub

Just been looking at some historical pages at Wikivoyage:Logbook archives and was just wondering if any of it is really worth keeping? A number of them are just notes about upgading the mediawiki software. There may be the odd thing worth keeping but I didn't spot anything myself. -- WOSlinker (talk) 14:57, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Good point. Almost all of the individual entries contain nothing but a single sentence or less. If we don't decide to delete it all, we could at the very least compile all that entire history into a single page and delete all the individual entry/container pages. That's what we did with them over on pt:. Texugo (talk) 15:20, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Should I look through them all & post a list of the ones that are just about software upgrades which could then be deleted. This would just leave those with announcments about content or milestones. -- WOSlinker (talk) 22:16, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Wikivoyage:Jul-Aug 2003 does seem to have some interesting stuff... maybe the notable stuff should be saved to one page. --Rschen7754 22:20, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Here's the 2004 & 2005 ones that seem to be less useful: Wikivoyage:14 July 2004, Wikivoyage:6 August 2004, Wikivoyage:10 October 2004, Wikivoyage:12 November 2004, Wikivoyage:16 November 2004, Wikivoyage:18 November 2004, Wikivoyage:25 November 2004, Wikivoyage:22 January 2005, Wikivoyage:7 February 2005, Wikivoyage:8 February 2005, Wikivoyage:9 February 2005, Wikivoyage:13 February 2005, Wikivoyage:14 February 2005, Wikivoyage:15 February 2005, Wikivoyage:17 February 2005, Wikivoyage:1 March 2005, Wikivoyage:12 April 2005, Wikivoyage:2 May 2005, Wikivoyage:5 May 2005, Wikivoyage:16 May 2005, Wikivoyage:28 May 2005, Wikivoyage:29 May 2005, Wikivoyage:30 May 2005, Wikivoyage:3 November 2005, Wikivoyage:10 November 2005, Wikivoyage:16 November 2005, Wikivoyage:14 December 2005 -- WOSlinker (talk) 22:50, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Doesn't the logbook contain some entries which are inaccurate because they were copied from Wikitravel with the word "Wikivoyage" being substituted? For example: "July 24th, 2003: Wikivoyage goes live on the Internet! Hip hip hooray!" But that was Wikitravel -- Wikivoyage didn't exist them. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 05:39, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
