urban municipality in Bavaria, Germany

Wolfratshausen is a wood rafting town in Upper Bavaria.

Understand edit

Wolfratshausen, first mentioned in 1003 as Wolueradeshusun, is immediately south of the confluence of the Loisach and Isar, the junction of two important traffic arteries to Mittenwald and Garmisch . Until the construction of the railway line from Munich to Mittenwald around 1889, rafting was the most important transport route for trade from the south / Italy and thus the most important source of income in the village for centuries.
