Woodbridge is a town in Prince William County and suburb of Washington, D.C., best known for the Potomac Mills shopping mall.

While many people visit Woodbridge to shop at Potomac Mills, the historic town of Occaquan is a lovely day trip and there are several great restaurants too.

  • Prince William Metro Direct Circular operates between Potomac Mills and the Franconia-Springfield metro station. The trip from the Franconia-Springfield metro takes 30 minutes and costs $3.60 if paid using a SmarTrip card. The bus operates every day except Sunday.
  • Dale City-Washington OmniRide operates between Potomac Mills and the White House and the Pentagon (Bus Bay L1). The bus operates only on weekdays and costs $5.75 if paid using a SmarTrip card. The first buses from Washington leave in the early afternoon, but the journey to Potomac Mills takes only 45-50 minutes, which is faster than taking the Prince William Metro Direct Circular.

Woodbridge is home to one of the D.C. area's only two Chicano communities and is a great place to get some Mexican food.

  • 1 Dixie Bones, 13440 Occoquan Rd, +1 703 492-2205. Daily 11AM-9PM. The best restaurant in Woodbridge. Their barbecue meats are absolutely the best, and their sides are excellent too. Make sure you go hungry.
  • 2 Arepas Capitol, 14091 Noblewood Plaza, Dale City, +1 571 402-7297. F Sa 11AM-9:30PM, Su Tu-Th 11AM-8PM, closed M. Venezuelan cafe.
  • 3 Bistro L'Hermitage, 12724 Occaquan Rd, +1 703 499-9550. Tu-F 4–11PM; Sa Su 11:30AM–2:30PM, 4–11PM, closed M. French restaurant. Dress up and splurge!
  • 4 Layla's Lebanese Restaurant, 2217 Old Bridge Rd (Tacket's Mill), +1 703 492-1500. M-Sa 11AM-8PM closed Sun. Chicken shwarma, kibbe, chicken kabob, and other tasty Lebanese food.
  • 5 Ricos Tacos Moya, 14087 Jefferson Davis Hwy (Marumsco Shopping Plaza), +1 703 499-8602. M-W 10AM-10PM, Th-Su 10AM-midnight. Disproportionately Mexican clientele and only one server who really speaks English (the daughter), and some incredible food. Highlights are the tacos themselves and the menudo, which is not available every day. They also serve the rare-to-D.C. micheladas—beer with spices, salt rim, and often tabasco sauce and clam juice (clamada). They're a lot of fun.

  • 7 Taquizas Virginia, Route 1 and Dumfries Rd, Dumfries (234 Commuter Lot). Authentic Mexican street tacos.
