Xinyu

Xinyu (新余 Xīnyú) is a city in Jiangxi Province. An important member of the city cluster in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, is located in the central west of Jiangxi Province, east of Zhangshu City and Xinguan County, west of Yichun City, Yuanzhou District, south of Ji'an County, Anfu County, Xiajiang County, north of Shanggao County, Ga'an City.It is located between latitude 27°33′~28°05′ north and longitude 114°29′~115°24′ east, with six types of basic landforms: low mountain, high hill, low hill, hillock, hillock, terrace, and plain; the climate is subtropical and humid, and the Yuan River is the main river flowing through Xinyu; it has a total area of 3,178 square kilometers; and is the province's smallest district city. As of the end of 2023, Xinyu had a resident population of 1,198,500 people. As of June 2023, Xinyu City has 1 district and 1 county; [42] the municipal government is located in Yushui District.

In March 2000, the Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government decided to set up the Fairy Lake Scenic Area Committee and the Fairy Lake Scenic Area Management Committee of Xinyu City. Xinyu Kongmujiang Ecological and Economic Zone Party Committee and Management Committee formerly known as Xinyu Yangtiangang Party Committee and Management Committee were established in October 2006. In November 2001, the working committee of Xinyu City High-tech Economic Development Zone and the management committee of Xinyu City High-tech Economic Development Zone were established. In 2005, the name was changed to Xinyu Economic Development Zone. In 2009, the name was changed to Jiangxi Xinyu High-tech Industrial Park. On November 29, 2010, it was upgraded to the National High-tech Industrial Development Zone with the approval of the State Council. As of June 2023, Xinyu City has one county under the jurisdiction of Fengyi County and one district of Yushui District, as well as Fairy Lake Scenic Area and Xinyu High-tech Industrial Development Zone. The city is located in Chongqing Water District.

Location territory

Xinyu City is located in the west of central Jiangxi Province, the western section of Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway, lies between 27°33′~28°05′ north latitude and 114°29′~115°24′ east longitude. The longest part of the country is 101.9 km east-west, the widest part is 65 km north-south, 150 km east from Nanchang City, Zhangshu City, Xingan County, Yichun City, Yuanzhou District, Ji'an County, Anfu County and Xiajiang County. The total area is 3,178 square kilometers, accounting for 1.9% of the total area of Jiangxi Province.

Topographical features

According to the geomorphological map of Jiangxi Province, Xinyu City belongs to the "Pingxiang-Gaoan erosive erosion hill basin (subregion) and the mid-river valley terrace and hill area (region) in western Jiangxi Province. There are 6 types of basic morphology of landforms: low mountain, high hill, low hill, hill, hill, terrace, plain. Geomorphogenetic types include erosion tectonic topography, erosion exfoliation topography, erosion erosion topography and accumulation topography. Mountainous areas, most of the border edge, the south for Wugong Mountain and Jiulong Mountain, the north for Mengshan, the southwest for Dagang Mountain. The altitude is 500 to 1000 meters, which becomes the boundary or watershed with the neighboring counties. The mountain ranges from north to south. Due to the geological structure, it is generally characterized by towering peaks, steep mountains, and deep valleys. The main peak of Dagang Mountain in southwest of Yixian County is 1091.8 meters above sea level, which is the first peak in China; the main peak of Mengshan Mountain is 1004.5 meters above sea level. The mountainous areas on the northwest border of the city develop along the north to the southwest, that is, the people, Uri, boundary water line; the relative height of the mountainous areas in the south is 120-200 meters. The mountain range extends from west to east to Baizhang Peak, forming a mountain boundary with Xiajiang, Ji'an, Xingan and other counties.

Climate

Xinyu City is a subtropical humid climate, with four distinct seasons, mild climate, abundant sunshine, abundant rainfall, long frost-free period, and short winter. Xinyu City has a mild climate with an average annual temperature of 17.7 ℃, July is the hottest period of the year, with an average monthly temperature of 29.4 ℃ and an extreme maximum temperature of 40.0 ℃. January is the coldest month of the year, with an average monthly temperature of 5.4 °C and an extreme minimum temperature of minus 7.2 °C. The average annual relative humidity is 80%, the relative humidity in March is as high as 84%, and the relative humidity in July is only 74%.

Get around

Transportation Xinyu City is located in the triangular center of Nanchang, Changsha and Wuhan. The Zhejiang-Jiangxi (Shanghai-Kunming) Railway runs through the city, and the Beijing-Kowloon Railway runs through Xinyu.

Railways Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway crosses Xinyu City east-west, Beijing-Kowloon Railway passes by the city. On September 16, 2014, the Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway opened and set up a new Yubei station.

Highways In 2021, the current status of Xinyu City's national road network is "three longitudinal, four transverse and two links", its Chinese road network is "one longitudinal and one transverse", "two longitudinal and three transverse" is "two longitudinal and one transverse". As of 2023, the total mileage of Xinyu City and provincial highways is 405.555 km, including 174.591 km, 171.254 km, 49.818 km, and 9.892 km; 43 percent of first-level roads, 85 percent of second-level or higher; and 99.8 percent of high-level roads. Jiangxi-Guangdong, Shanghai-Rui and Wuji expressways and four provincial roads meet in Xinyu, becoming one of the rare high-density expressways in more than 680 cities throughout the country. In 2023, Xinyu City's road passenger transportation volume was 2,648,600, up 16.2% from the previous year, and road cargo transportation volume was 1.59.14 million tons, up 4.7%. In the whole year, the city's water passenger transportation volume was 313,000, an increase of 24.2%, and the water cargo transportation volume was 631,000 tons, an increase of 14.3%.

Transportation In 2022, Xinyu City's road passenger transportation volume of 2.28 million people, down 34.9% from the previous year, and road cargo transportation volume of 152.04 million tons, down 1.5%. In the whole year, the city's water passenger transportation volume was 252,000, down 37.3%, and the water cargo transport volume was 552,000 tons, up 3.8%.

The park covers an area of around 200 square km, including 50 square km of water area. There are over 200 small islands distributed in the lake. • Luofang Conference Memorial Hall Red Scenic Spot （罗坊会议纪念馆），Luofang Conference Memorial Hall is located in Xinyu City, 20 kilometers east of Luofang Town, Yuan River, north of Qingping Highway, Zhegan Railway, the traffic is extremely convenient.The museum was built in 1973, opened on the National Day in 1976, with a floor area of 2,200 square meters, is a group of national style courtyard as the main building complex. 2021 May 8, was listed as a national 4A-level tourist attractions.
• Bu Shi Park（抱石公园） Bu Shi Park was built to commemorate Fu Baoshi, a master of Chinese painting of Xinyu nationality. Bu Shi Park is located in Longhu Mountain at the west end of Xinyu Construction Road, covering an area of 29.13 hectares.It is one of the key cultural facilities in Jiangxi Province.The design and layout of the park seeks to reflect the artistic style of Mr. Fu Baoshi's "Yangchunbaixue" category, and has completed the Fu Baoshi Exhibition Hall, the East Gate, the South Gate, the Qinfeng Building, the Drunken Brush Building, the Baoshi Lake, the Twin Pavilions out of the water, the Water Pavilion, the Water Pavilion Sishishi, the Curved Corridor Sunset Shining, the Jianshiguan, the Three Smile Bridges, the Hongyu Bridges, the Children's Paradise, the Invitation Pavilion, the Liufang Pavilion, the Gaofeng Pavilion, the GuanFish Pond, Flower Garden Room, Yangde Pavilion, Listening Pavilion, Game Pavilion, Bihai Songtao, Yifeng Pagoda and other attractions and 5,000 meters of walking paths.

Do

Walk in the North Lake Road in the sunset. It's an avenue surrounded by nice trees in the upper class resident area. Starting from the dusk, local people all come out walking, chatting in their very relaxing dress, enjoying the shadowed road and glass slopes in the North Lake Park.

Eat

Fish and Tofu Stew (豆腐鱼). A specialty dish in the Jiangxi region, Fish and Tofu Stew is typically prepared by simmering fish and tofu together, creating a delicious and savory flavor.

Xinyu Rice Noodles (新余米线). Xinyu Rice Noodles are a traditional noodle dish in the local cuisine, known for their thin and smooth texture. They can be paired with various soup bases and toppings.

Lake Fish Rice (湖鱼米饭). Situated in an area rich in lakes, Xinyu is known for Lake Fish Rice, a dish made by cooking locally sourced fresh lake fish with rice, resulting in a flavorful and satisfying meal.

Xinyu honeydew orange (新余蜜桔). Xinyu tangerine is an excellent variety selected from local varieties in 1977, which has sweet taste, tender flesh, slagging, strong flavor, uniform fruit size, bright coloring, beautiful fruit shape, good productivity, adaptability and other excellent characteristics, the fruit has been welcomed by the majority of consumers, and sold well in the country and exported to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Russia and other countries and regions.Yushui District was awarded the title of "China Xinyu tangerine export planting base" in 2005, approved as "National Green Food (Xinyu tangerine) standardized production base" in 2007, and awarded the title of "China tangerine township" in 2012.In 2012, it was awarded the title of "China Honey Oranges Township", Xinyu Honey Oranges became "National Geographical Indication of Agricultural Products" in 2010, and was awarded the title of "China's Top 50 Fruit Regional Public Brands" in 2015.
