Cotati is a small city in Sonoma County with less than 8,000 people. It neighbors Rohnert Park, and is about 10 miles south of the County Seat, Santa Rosa. It is 10 miles north of Petaluma and less than 50 miles north of San Francisco.

Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit, or SMART, connects Cotati with Sonoma County Airport, Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Novato, San Rafael, and Larkspur, with connections to the ferry to San Francisco.

There is a bus system and several cabs, however most use personal vehicle. Cotati is a good town for walking and biking.

Cotati has a beautiful, small downtown area which is right near the heart of Cotati, the wonderful La Plaza Park which is home to the annual Jazz Festival, Accordion Festival, and Thursdays Farmer's Market, all of which occur during the summer season.

Cotati is home to several bars, all within walking distance in the center of town. Thursdays and the weekend are busiest nights, but there is a turn out for the Cotati Crawl all through the week (participants start at one end of downtown and drink their way to the other).
