East timor edit

I removed East Timor from the list. Wikipedia seems to define the Indian Ocean as being bound by the southern limit of Indonesia, hence excluding East Timor and if you are going to include East Timor why not Indonesia itself? (WT-en) Shep 15:06, 5 February 2010 (EST)

Straits of Malacca edit

Aren't Langkawi and even more so, Penang in the Strait of Malacca, not an ocean at all? We need to make a decision about how far north(west) the Straits of Malacca extend, because some of the Thai and perhaps Burmese islands are questionable, too. We should only use this page for islands that are outside of the regular area of a state, and do not clearly fall within a continent, I think. Listing islands like Phuket here is nonsensical, as we'd have to list hundreds of islands that are right off the coast of Thailand. Globe-trotter (talk) 17:03, 19 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Zanzibar edit

I don't think we should include Zanzibar here. It's an island just off the coast of Tanzania and isn't an island far flung out into the Indian Ocean unlike the others mentioned here. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 05:48, 13 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

I think you're right. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:53, 13 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Similarly, should Socotra also go? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 11:18, 21 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
