Why are Latrobe (United States of America) and Latrobe (Australia) insufficient? Isn't the guideline that we should use only the level of disambiguation necessary? Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:34, 24 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wikivoyage:Naming conventions#Disambiguation recommends using the state name as the disambiguator for both Australia and the USA. Vidimian (talk) 07:06, 25 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
OK, I find the policy of making exceptions only for the US, Canada, Australia, the UK and South Africa highly ethnocentric and stupid, but I see that's the policy so far. I may try to reopen discussion, because why are divisions of those countries more important than provinces of China and states of India, Brazil and Mexico? Just because they speak English? Then what about Nigeria's states? Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:13, 25 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
I'm not really sure, but this discussion has some insight as to why the locations that need to be disambiguated in the countries you listed above hold a special exception. At any rate, this is a discussion best saved for Wikivoyage talk:Naming conventions. Vidimian (talk) 15:03, 25 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I posted a comment at the end of that thread. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:25, 26 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
