Earlier in the saummer I added some info (and links where possible) on various modes of getting around in the Naples area. Sorry for not mentioning this earlier. (WT-en) L.J. Brooks 18:25, 04 Sep 2006 (UTC)

Added some info on safety tips for people travelling in Naples and the area. (WT-en) L.J. Brooks 18:39, 04 Sep 2006 (UTC)

May 10, 2011: I am reading conflicting info regarding which ANM bus to take from Napoli Centrale Train Station to the Capodichino Airport. This site: http://www.napoliunplugged.com/Naples-ANM-Bus-System.html says that the 3S is no longer in service and advises one take the C58. I just thought I would add this into the discussion in case someone with more authority on the wikivoyage site wanted to update. I will need to get from the train station to the airport tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out for sure then. —The preceding comment was added by 93.45.197.139 (talkcontribs)

Watch out for terms edit

I just reverted some edits, since some words used are in my opinion quite contentious. I'm open to discussion.--Ferdinando Scala (talk) 09:20, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Galleries edit

I don't like all those small photos. I would take the time to enlarge then and separate them into different spots in the article, but I have to go to sleep, so for now, I'm just noting this as an important task. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:13, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

"Sleep" section edit

I just did a major cleanup of the "Sleep" section, which was incorrectly formatted and full of touting and fluff. The next question is whether hotel listings that are nothing but a name and contact information should be deleted. Your input, please. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:36, 27 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Most of the entries should be removed. --Gobbler (talk) 12:43, 27 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

--- Budget ----

  • B&B Naples - ?
  • Bed and Breakfast La Bouganville - good
  • 6 Small Rooms Hostel & Guesthouse - good
  • Dei Decumani bed & breakfast - good
  • Giovanni's Home
  • Hostel of the Sun
  • Hotel San Giorgio - good
  • Hotel Speranza
  • Potenza Hotel
I don't feel confident removing listings with descriptions, but please remove any that shouldn't be there. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:34, 28 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Removed. There are way too many images in a row, anyway. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:07, 17 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Too many images edit

There are too many thumbnails on this page by far, as per WV:Image policy. Which ones are least important and should be removed? Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:09, 17 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Because they are appropriately spread out through the article, I don't think they are a problem, but we would not lose much by dropping the pictures of the airport hall, a cup of coffee, and a pizza. Ground Zero (talk) 11:34, 17 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
There are a whole bunch of them in a row, so I don't agree that they are appropriately spread throughout the article. Thanks for your suggestions. I disagree in part, though, because I think a picture of la vera pizza napoletana is important in an article about Naples. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:43, 18 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
I moved more images around and removed a couple, but I'm still not satisfied, as there are too many images bunched in the "See" section. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:14, 20 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Reason: No freedom of panorama in Italy and the architect died in 2016 whereas they have to be dead for 70 years for it to be OK to show a picture of their work. So if we think it's so important to keep this photo in the article that we should consider it fair use for the educational purposes of a travel guide, we'd need to upload the photo locally. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:36, 17 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Actually, maybe not. A previous nomination for deletion was denied on the following basis: "in Italy are considered below the threshold of originality the buildings that are not recognised as "remarkable" by the Ministry (Direzione Generale Arte e Architettura contemporanee e Periferie urbane)." Visible on the page. It's a cool building, but is it important enough to claim fair use of it? The reasoning is: "No FoP in Italy. Architect Zaha Hadid died in 2016, still within the 70 p.m.a. of the country." Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:16, 15 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm...I think so. From the article: "A massive new high-speed railway hub, 3 Napoli Afragola, has been built about 12 km north of the city centre." But let's have a second opinion. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:17, 15 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Looking at the thread, this file has been kept once before and the file may be kept again. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:19, 15 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I voted for speedy keep, and now that A1 is banned from making comments at CDR, it may as well be kept again. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:19, 15 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
We shouldn't count on it, though. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:38, 15 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Can somebody from Naples please check the coordinates of Galleria Borbonica? edit

On my computer the coordinates of Galleria Borbonica point to a spot in the sea. Travelosaurus (talk) 08:08, 23 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Indeed. It seems they might have been copied from a dd:mm:ss or dd:mm.mm format to the decimal format we use, without correcting the figures. I replaced them with the corresponding ones from Wikipedia (which is said to be the source for the ones at Wikidata). –LPfi (talk) 11:56, 23 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Listings look weird in this article in Safari edit

What the heading says; listings in the article don't look normal, instead some low-level code is displayed. This problem only shows up:

  • in the Naples article as far as I've seen (today I'm digging around random articles to find entries for WV:Discover so I've seen a lot of articles in the last hour or so)
  • in the Safari browser (like the shrunk banners I mentioned in the pub), not Firefox
  • literally in this article; when I copy-pasted all of the article's code to my sandbox, the listings looked normal

Ypsilon (talk) 16:51, 18 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Just made a dummy edit to the article, deleting one empty space at the beginning as that usually resets stuff or something and now all listings look normal. --Ypsilon (talk) 16:54, 18 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

No FoP in Italy – I think I'd much rather have File:Estación de metro Toledo, Nápoles, Italia, 2023-03-26, DD 01-03 HDR.jpg than the existing image of Toledo station, though. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 09:46, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Which existing image? We do have this photo in the article, and it's a no-brainer to upload locally with a big warning for no-one to use it commercially and that if they nevertheless do so, they do so at their own risk. Ikan Kekek (talk) 13:30, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
