Alto Alentejo is the northern half of the Alentejo region of Portugal.

- 15 Vendas Novas — is famous for its bifanas (thinly sliced pork either fried and served on a soft roll with mustard), considered the best bifanas in Portugal

edit- Comboios de Portugal (CP) provides intercity rail service on the Linha do Alentejo line from Lisbon to Évora. Regional trains run once daily on the Linha do Leste line from Entroncamento and Badajoz (Spain) to Portalegre and Elvas.
- Rede Expressos[dead link] offers long-distance intercity bus service from throughout the country to Évora, Portalegre, and many other cities in the region.
