Bagalkot (ಬಾಗಲಕೋಟೆ in Kannada) is a town in the Indian state of Karnataka. Bagalkot is the district headquarters of the Bagalkot district of the state. Bagalkot district was carved from Bijapur (Vijapur) district following district reorganisation carried out by the J.H.Patel government.
