Understand
editBesalú is medieval town in the Girona Province. It is a pleasing, compact town with stone homes and businesses that is easily walkable. The main attractions are the 12th-century Romanesque bridge over the Fluvià river, 11th century Church of Sant Pere, and a number of restored Jewish structures.
Get in
editPositioned about 25km west of Figueres While there is a bus, Besalú is best accessed by car via the N-260 and exiting off on C-66.
Get around
editThe old section of town is closed off to non-resident cars, so you will need to walk. While the cobblestone streets can be tricky for those wearing heels, the town is overall very easy and enjoyable to traverse on foot. The bridge can only be crossed on foot.
