Changzhi City is located in the southeast of Shanxi Loess Plateau, surrounded by mountains, the continental monsoon is strong and lasting, the warm temperate continental climate is significant, the climate is mild, dry, four distinct seasons. There are more meteorological disasters, the main meteorological disasters are: hail, low temperature freezing, drought, flood and other natural disasters. The average temperature in the city was 10.3 degrees Celsius, 0.6 degrees higher than previous years. The precipitation in each county is between 511.2 mm and 795.9 mm, the average sunshine duration is 2185.1 hours, and the average frost-free period is 220 days

There are two high-speed railway stations in Changzhi,

• 1 Changzhi East (长治东站). Changzhidong Railway Station (Changzhidong high-speed railway Station) is located in the east of Chaoyang Village, Laodingshan Town, Luzhou District, Changzhi City, China.
  Changzhi East Railway Station, which serves as a hub, began construction on June 16, 2016 and was officially opened and put into use on December 12, 2020. The total area of Changzhi East Railway Station is about 40,000 square meters, of which the total area of station buildings is 20,000 square meters. 
• 2 Changzhi South (长治南站). 
• 3 Changzhi Wangcun Airport (长治王村机场), Changzhi Airport Road(长治市机场路). Changzhi Wangcun Airport (IATA: CIH; ICAO: ZBCZ), located at the junction of Luzhou District and Lucheng District, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, China, 5.5 kilometers to the south from the center of Changzhi City, is a 4C-class military and civilian joint domestic regional airport.

Taihangshan Grand Canyon

• 1 Taihangshan Grand Canyon (太行山大峡谷; Tàihángshān Dàxiágǔ, Grand Gorge of Taihang), Daxiagu Town, Huguan County (壶关县大峡谷镇) (take the special tourist bus that departs from the Huguan County Seat North Bus Station; alight when you get to the visitor center), toll-free: +86 400 0710999. Not to be confused with the similarly named Taihang Grand Canyon (太行大峡谷) in Linzhou, Henan Province. As of April 2024, the park is closed due to road works. It will reopen again on July 1st. 
• 2 Shangdang Gate (上党门; Shàngdǎngmén), 15 Fushang Street, Luzhou District (潞州区府上街15号) (bus nos. 5, 5A and 14). 08:00-18:00. This old gate is a major historical landmark in Changzhi and is often seen as a symbol of the city. It was originally built during the Sui Dynasty as part of a local government office but destroyed by the Jurchens in the 12th century. The current structures date from the Ming Dynasty. Free. 
• 3 Faxing Temple (法兴寺; Fǎxīngsì). Faxing Temple, formerly located in Cilin Mountain Col, Eldest Son County, was built in the first year of the Sixteen States Period (AD 401). It is now located on Cuiyun Mountain, Cuizhuang Town, southeast of Eldest Son County, Shanxi Province, covering an area of 40,000 square meters.
  Faxing Temple is located in the north facing south, the existing layout of the Tang Dynasty characteristics, classics, stupa in front of the temple, the central axis in turn, Bulieshan gate, pagoda, round sense hall and Bodhisattva hall, two wings for the Guan Gong Hall, Jia LAN Hall and stele corridor. There are 17 inscriptions from Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, which record the history and establishment of the temple. 
• Xiantang Mountain (仙堂山; Xiāntángshān). 
• Lingkong Mountain (灵空山; Língkōngshān). 
• 4 Huangya Cave Cultural Tourism Area (黄崖洞; Huángyádòng Wénhuà Lǚyóu Qū), 168 Shangchiyu Village, Huangyadong Town, Licheng County (黎城县黄崖洞镇上赤峪村村168号) (take either a train or bus no. 818 to Licheng County, then catch bus no. 808 from Licheng Bus Station and get off at the final stop), ☏ +86 355 5512000. 08:00-18:00, no entry after 17:00. More than just a geological park, this is also an important historical site. During the Second World War, the Communist-led Eighth Route Army set up a military base here, which included the army’s first armaments factory. In November 1941, Eighth Route Army forces at the base successfully fought off an attack by the Japanese army despite being outnumbered 6 to 1. The former military base is now one of the key attractions in the park. Standard adult tickets are ¥120; tickets for children between 7 and 18 years old and adults between 60 and 64 years old are ¥60; children aged 6 or under and adults aged 65 or over are admitted for free.
