Farook College or Iru-mooli-parambu is a small township near Feroke in Kozhikode District, India. A number of educational institutions are situated here including Farook College.
Understand
editThe real name of the village was 'Iru-mooli-Parambu' but the locals started calling the place 'Farook College Town' once the college started functioning in 1948. Today the little village looks like a township with several colleges, schools and training organizations. In addition to Farook College, this township has an MBA college, one college of commerce and one teacher training college. The growth of the township happened because most of these colleges are residential and a large number of students and teachers live here. Today the word 'iru-mooli-parambu' or the village of the humming wind, has disappeared in a new concrete forest with education as the sole aim. Those who want to start new schools or colleges anywhere in the world can visit this place to see how a variety of educational institutions were built in a very small period at very low budgets.
Get in
editFarook College is 5 km from Feroke Railway Station. Autorickshaws and buses are easily available from Ramanattukara town and Kozhikode city. All buses sport the sign 'Farook College' as the old name 'iru-mooli-parambu' is not known except among the older generations.
