Federación is a small town in the northeast of the province of Entre Ríos, by the reservoir of Salto Grande dam. It lies on the Uruguay river bank.

editThe original town was founded in 1777 but in 1974 the citizens of Federación underwent a relocation. The new city was formally inaugurated in 1979, because the old city was flooded by the waters of Salto Grande. The local economy is based on citrus crops and timber. They also have many attractive tourist spots.

editBy road: you can get in only by bus or car. It is between 5 and 7 hours away from Buenos Aires (478 km).

editIt is defined as “subtropical”. The average temperatures are 19 ºC in spring, 25 ºC in summer, 18 ºC in autumn and 13 ºC in winter.
The average annual rainfall of 1200 millimeters sets annual records, with higher rates in autumn and spring. Humidity is relatively high too.
Get around
editTaxis are very cheap. If you want to walk, Federación is perfect too. It’s very small and cycling is another good option.
