West Fujian (闽西 mǐnxī) is an area of Fujian Province in China. The province's main cities are along the coast; the inland region is mainly mountains and agricultural areas.
The region's three prefectures each have an anchoring city with population in the 2.5 to 3 million range.
- 1 Mount Wuyi — a scenic area famous for its tea, with mountains, rivers and historic buildings
- 2 Taining Town — a UNESCO Global Geo park near Sanming
- 3 Fujian Tulou — fascinating, centuries-old earth buildings located in Yongding County and Nanjing County
Getting around within this area is generally done by bus.
A fast train line from Putian in coastal Fujian to Nanning in Jiangxi province (Fujian's neighbour on the inland side) is now in service; it passes through this region and is faster than buses.
