Lang Tengah (Malay: Lang Tengah) or Pulau Lang Tengah is an island in Terengganu in Malaysia, featuring sandy white beaches and clear blue waters with plenty of fish and coral. The island is in the middle of the best kept marine park on the East Coast of Malaysia with some of the best diving and snorkeling sites in West Malaysia.
Lang Tengah - "the Eagle in the Middle" - gets its name from its location between the Perhentian Islands and Redang Island
Get in
editLang Tengah Island about a half hour’s boat ride from Merang Jetty. Boats are sent from the resorts to pick up tourists at the Merang Jetty. Pickup is usually in the morning until noon. It is easy to fly to Terengganu airport and get a taxi to Merang Jetty. Coaches also travel from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu, from where you can get to Merang Jetty by personal car or taxi. Although officially, Merang Jetty is given an address in Kuala Terengganu, rather than in Merang itself, it is in fact in Merang, and the journey to the jetty lasts about 50-60 minutes by car from the centre of KT and about 40 minutes from KT Airport.
Get around
editLang Tengah has no roads; travel around the island is by foot, boat, kayak or just by snorkeling. The waters surrounding the island are shallow. Large boats are not allowed to dock at the beaches, there is a large boat jetty on Pasir Ayer. Tourists on other beaches must transfer from larger ferries to smaller speedboats to reach the beach.
