town in Louisiana, United States
Lecompte is a small town (population 1200) in central Louisiana. It is named after a horse called LeComte, who was named after horse breeder Ambrose LeComte. That's right – the town's name shouldn't have a 'p' in it, but an historical sign-writing error has stuck.
