The Matrix is a science fiction film franchise created by The Wachowskis. The original trilogy was released from 1999 to 2003, and was followed by several video games and animated films. A fourth feature film was released in December 2021. The film trilogy was shot in multiple locations around the world, most of them available to visit.

Neo is a hacker who learns that mankind's world is just a virtual reality called The Matrix. The Matrix is created by an artificial intelligence, which as wired all human wired to generate electricity for the machines. A rebel group led by Morpheus and Trinity rescues Neo to the real world, from where they re-enter the Matrix to liberate mankind.
