  • Inter-Mountain Fair, 44218 A St, +1 530 336-5695. A nice fair that is completely old-fashioned, complete with farm animal contests, rodeos, parades, and even a scholarship program.

Do edit

  • Ahjumawi Lava Springs SP. Uncrowded caving and boating are unrivaled here in this part of the country. This is a pristine wilderness area, so if you try something as trite as taking a rock with you, you will be busted by the feds. This has its advantages, however, as the place is so prehistoric-looking, you will be expecting dinosaurs. It is located northwest of McArthur, and you have to have a boat to access it.
  • Fishing. McArthur has some of the best trout fishing in California, if not in the U.S.A. Fall River, accessible from McArthur, is world-renowned for its beautiful trout; whereas nearby Pitt River is home to Bass, Blue Gill, and invasive Carp.
  • Hunting. The McArthur area, being in a river valley, is a winter location for migratory ducks and geese. Some of the better deer hunting zones in the state are quickly accessed from McArthur. See California Department of Fish and Wildlife for seasons and regulations.
