The train station called "Laroche-Migennes" is in the historic centre of Migennes.

Migennes is halfway (1 hr 30 min) along the Paris-Dijon (Lyon) line. Trains from these two cities leaves hourly and stop in Migennes for people going to Auxerre. Trains from Paris leave either from Gare de Lyon or Gare de Bercy" (the two stations are close to each other but it's better check before if you don't want to walk 10 minutes with your luggage). From Auxerre it's a 20-minute ride.

The train station has 2 exits, one for the centre of Migennes, and the other one going to Cheny, where the large carpark is. Taxis are available on call on Migennes side.

Migennes is the starting and finish point of the canal de Bourgogne

Cruise edit

You can cruise the canal with rental boats and you don't need a boat licence. Le Boat rental company is located near the port.

Cycle edit

You can cycle the whole canal from Migennes to Dijon in about 4 days (242 km in total). The canal pass through different towns with some historic interest. Bicycle rental are available. Ask at the tourism information centre. You can also cycle along the river Yonne.

Fishing edit

There are several rivers and lakes around Migennes where you can go fishing. As fishing is regulate, you will need a permit.

Buy edit

There is a market every Thursday morning (finishing around 12:00-13:00) where you will find all the food and local products along with the classic market clothes. The market hall and the life around are quite a sight and good way to discover local food.

Migennes has a few restaurants ranging from kebab shops, pizzerias, brasseries and an Asian food restaurant. Ask the locals for their favourites place to eat.

Drink edit

Not a lot of drinking option (at least at night) but you might find the odd bar staying open late depending on patronage.

The "Cabaret L'escale" is your best bet for an evening with live music show and a few drinks. The place is quite famous for being an heritage of the Music Hall golden age in France and have seen many famous French artists at their beginning. Check the program before as some evening booking is required.

Otherwise if you fancy a different atmosphere, you will have to drive to Auxerre (20 km south) as there is no public transport at night
