From Maceió

Take a scheduled van from the rodoviaria in the direction of Porto de Pedras. The fare is around R$18 (April 2021). There are departures at 6:20, 7:45, 9:15, 11:05, 13:10, 14:15, 16:45 and 18:10 (April 2021).
From Ipioca they are the same vans. You can start waiting for the van 30 minutes after the scheduled departure in Maceió.

From Maragogi

Take a van from the Terminal rodoviario in the direction of Porto Calvo. They depart every 15min. Go until in Japaratinga for R$5 (April 2021). Take a motortaxi for R$13 (April 2021) to the ferry. Uber also offers this route. The ferry was for free in April 2021 when not having a car or motorbike. From Porto de Pedras there are scheduled vans for R$6 (April 2021) and motortaxis to SMdM. The scheduled vans depart at 5:00, 7:00, 9:30, 10:55, 13:00, 14:50, 16:30 and 17:20 (April 2021)

From Recife and Porto de Galinhas

Directly from Recife and Porto de Galinhas it is not so convenient. You could go to Maragogi or Maceió first and continue from there.

Get around

The village itself can be easily explored on foot.

To the beaches in the north and south you can take a mototaxi. You can recognize them from the yellow reflective west. In Porto da Rua are the 1 mototaxis in front of the supermarket Preço Bom. If you want them to pick you up from the beach or your accommodation, you need to get the whatsapp numbers from some of the drivers. The price between São Miguel dos Milagres and Porto da Rua is R$5-6 (April 2021).

The scheduled vans are not so frequent.

In Uber were "no cars available" in April 2021.

There is a viewpoint 40 meters above the village. In Google Maps it's called 1 Lookout Southern Cross. In Portuguese the name is Mirante do Cruzeiro. There you can see the whole area.

Do

In Porto da Rua there is a 1 kayak rental in the Anga Hotel. And there is a 2 kayak rental in an associaton next to the pousada Casa Dona Maria. The latter also rents bikes and the equipment for stand up paddleboarding.
