Samani (様似) is a town of 4,400 people (2017) in Hidaka, Hokkaido. The entire area is designated as a Global Geopark by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as Mt. Apoi Geopark.

The local economy is dominated by agriculture, including breeding horses for racing, tourism and the harvesting of wild konbu.

JR Hokkaido Bus run a bus from Mukawa station on the Nissho Line (日勝線). The route runs from Shizunai and Urakawa through Samani to Erimo and Hiroo

By road, take national highway Route 336.

  • 1 Mount Apoi (アポイ岳, Apoi-dake). Mount Apoi, standing 810 m, is next to the town. An onsen (hot spring resort) is at the base of the mountain, which is a popular climb among tourists and locals.    
  • Oyako Rocks (親子岩, Oya-ko iwa) — One of the best known sites in Samani is the Oya-ko rocks that sit just offshore. They are known by this name, meaning Parents-and-Child, because they are a formation of two larger rocks and smaller one. Oya-ko is nesting site for cormorants and other sea birds.
