city in Tulsa and Creek counties in Oklahoma, United States, that is the county seat of Creek County

Sapulpa is in the Green Country region of Oklahoma, a conservative little town that sounds like Sebulba from Star Wars if you say it fast.

See edit

  • 1 The Buffalo Statue (along I-44 north of town and just south of the Super 8). Celebrating Oklahoma's 100th Year of Statehood.
  • 2 Sapulpa Historical Museum, 100 E Lee Ave, +1 918 224-4871. Tu-Sa 10AM-3PM. Little odds and ends from Sapulpa's past, like one of those washing machines with feet that walks when it gets overloaded. Across Water St is the vintage Waite Phillips-Barnsdall Filling Station.
  • 3 Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum, 13 Sahoma Lake Rd, +1 918 216-1171. Nostalgic museum with lots of classic cars and old-time gasoline pumps.
  • 4 Rock Creek Bridge. An authentic segment of Route 66.

Do edit

  • 1 Pretty Water Lake (take S Sahoma Lake Rd north to destination). A pretty lake with a 1 mile walking trail.

Buy edit

  • Frankoma Pottery Factory Outlet, Dewey Street Market, 209 East Dewey Ave, +1 918 227-4508. Once Oklahoma's most famous pottery company and one of a few in the country with its own clay on the site of the Kiln, Frankoma closed its 9549 Frankoma Road factory in 2010. There is a strong aftermarket for the pieces as collectibles. An attempt was made in 2012 to revive the brand on a very limited scale; products were available locally or ordered on-line from Houston TX.
