Questions without answers
editI removed these questions from the article. what is the money value there? how is the system set up in Benin compared to America? what is the current exchange rate?. --(WT-en) Evan 19:07, 19 December 2006 (EST)
Travel info lost?

Regions
editI'm not at all convinced that Benin needs region articles. At least not until we've started writing articles on tiny villages in the country. I'd like to merge content from the current articles (of which there really is none) back into this one under the regions heading. We could also subdivide the cities section by region. Thoughts? --(WT-en) Peter Talk 23:07, 6 January 2009 (EST)
- I know little about the country, but my first reaction is to agree with Peter. Content-wise, it certainly does not need regionalising. I think Benin is one of the more visited countries in West Africa (?) as it is stable, but given its relatively small size and our content, I would say no regions. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 05:05, 22 January 2010 (EST)
I must disagree. Benin is a little larger than Bulgaria and roughly the same size as Pennsylvania (which has 7 regions). Since it lies perpendicular to the coast, that should be a clue that like other nearby countries, the landscape goes from coastal plains to forests to savanna. Unlike in neighboring Togo, there's no clear middle section and there's no dominating ethnicities across broad region, so simply dividing the country into north (4 northern provinces) & south (Collines southward) is the minimum that can be done. This roughly corresponds to the Muslim/Christian and savanna/forests divisions of the country. provinces map(WT-en) AHeneen 03:54, 28 January 2010 (EST)
- Hmm, based on other maps I've been looking at (population [1], topography [2], economic activity [3], etc. [4]), I'd lean towards including Collines in the north, actually. Since the north is much less populous, it should be ok re: content to have the north region much larger than the south. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 22:29, 7 February 2010 (EST)
- I'm ok with that. (WT-en) AHeneen 23:08, 8 February 2010 (EST)

I locally uploaded the file used on this page; see File:Port de Non Retour - Ouidah 2015.jpg (I don't know why the copyleft template doesn't work properly). If you'd prefer to use a different photo or add one to the Ouidah article, upload it as soon as possible, before these files are all deleted! Also watch for any pictures of relatively recent buildings and public art in any other articles about places in Benin. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:00, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
