Narrow Region Definition?

edit

This region includes a few towns that just don't fit (West Boylston, Holden) and a few that are a bit of a stretch (Paxton, Leicester, Shrewsbury). All of them border Worcester and are suburbs of it, so perhaps eventually they go in a Greater Worcester region. If you asked most people around here to define the Blackstone Valley, I think they'd say the town has to be on either Route 146 or Route 122 and south of Worcester. That doesn't apply to any of the towns listed above. Godsendlemiwinks (talk) 02:42, 10 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Delete Rhode Island Content?

edit

This article should just cover the Massachusetts portion of the Blackstone Valley, correct? Nearly all the content on this page is about Rhode Island. The See section is entirely Rhode Island. I've copied it below in case its needed for something else, but I've deleted it from this page.

Historic sites and museums, including

  • Slater Mill Historic Site, 67 Roosevelt Ave, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. A museum that houses the first operating cotton mill in the country. edit
  • Brown & Hopkins Country Store, 1179 Putnam Pike Chepachet, Rhode Island. The oldest country store still in operation in the U.S. edit

  • Daggett House, 16 Second St, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Oldest standing house in Pawtucket. edit
  • Blackstone River, which runs throughout the region. Tour it on the Explorer, the only riverboat in Rhode Island, or on the Samuel Slater Canal Boat, which docked at Central Falls Landing, and can seat up to 12 for river tours or chartered for up to 4 as an overnight bed and breakfast.

Itineraries[edit]

edit
  • Canal days on the Blackstone River. Explore some of the remaining stone sections of the canal, walk the towpaths, examine a granite lock and learn about the men who built them.
  • Explore four centuries of history in the Blackstone Valley. Begin the day in the Slater Park riding a centuries-old carousel and end at a butterfly garden in Chase Park. In between you will be learning all about the history of this region.
