IRA edit

Is "IRA" universally understood to mean "Irish Republican Army"? Someone who is 22 years old today was born after the Good Friday Agreement was signed. The IRAs have been out of the news (other than in Ireland, I suppose) since then. American readers may think first of Investment Retirement Accounts, which of course would make no sense in this context. Keep in mind that many of our readers are reading in their second language since English Wikivoyage has better coverage of most destinations (especially those in the Anglosphere) than other language Wikivoyages. What is the advantage of not spelling out IRA at the first use of it in an article for? Anything? Ground Zero (talk) 21:32, 12 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
