Do we need redlinks for "Swiss German Phrasebook" and "Alsatian Phrasebook"?
editHow likely are speakers of those languages going to feel anything but offended when spoken to in them by a non-native speaker instead of standard German, French or English? Hobbitschuster (talk) 13:14, 23 August 2017 (UTC)
- Rather unlikely, I's say take them out. Personally I always feel a bit awkard when tourists try to speak Swiss German instead of just using standard German. Drat70 (talk) 13:51, 23 August 2017 (UTC)
- That was what I gathered as well. I think that's where the line between "language" and "dialect" - if it is even a useful category - could be drawn. People who speak a dialect feel awkward when an outsider tries to speak their idiom. People who speak a language will usually feel appreciative. Though I am pretty sure people in Nicaragua would make snide comments were one to speak all too Spanish there... Hobbitschuster (talk) 14:57, 23 August 2017 (UTC)
