Allow photography?

edit

Which museums allow photography?

I hate to have to check my $2000 in camera equipment to a teenager running a coat check and usually don't want to walk all the way back to the hotel room?

Why isn't this info in every travel article?

The Uffici allow photography without flash. To my knowledge so do the cathedral, palazzo Pitti and the Palazzo Vecchio. Maikel (talk) 22:58, 26 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
It's not in every article because no-one added it. If the poster who didn't sign their post is still reading: Please add the information to any listing for a museum you know about. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:13, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Average length of time per museum

edit

I want to know how many days to budget in Florence verses other cities, but don't know if it these museums are tiny or Louvre sized? —The preceding comment was added by 71.131.52.97 (talkcontribs) 21:30, 10 January 2007‎

The Uffizi are huge. We managed to see most of it over the course of one full day though. "See" as opposed to "absorb".
It's kind of hard to determine the size of a museum. The Uffizi have a modern hanging in a single row, the Palazzo Pitti has an old-fashioned one where the paintings are stacked on top of each other, often in three rows, and often you have to consider the ceiling as well. Does this mean that the viewer will take four times as long per wall space? Maikel (talk) 22:58, 26 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
The Uffizi is the biggest, I think, though the museum at the Palazzo Pitti is also quite large. No museums in Florence are remotely close to the Louvre in size (it's 60,600 square meters vs. the Uffizi's 13,000), but there's a lot to see. If you spend 10 days in Florence, no matter what you do, you'll easily be able to create a list of 10 more days' worth of things you didn't see. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:17, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Understand

edit

Having lived in Florence for months, I have to say I don't know where the wonderful squares are. Piazza della Signoria is full of tourists, Piazza del Duomo maybe even more. Piazza della Repubblica is cold and unwelcoming. On top of this the prices in a caffè on these piazzas are ridiculous. If you want to make a contrast to the tourist crowds of Florence, you might want to speak of the parks instead, like the Cascine or Boboli. They are beautiful and much more relaxing. Where are all the palazzi?

This article is really incomplete. Please, especially if you know some Italian, look at it:Firenze and translate or at least make entries for some of the points of interest we're missing. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:22, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

I can only repeat this over 2 years later. It's not essential to translate the entire Italian text of this section, but the more sights that can be added to the English version of the guide to Florence and described in at least a coherent way, the better. If the number of sights seems to be getting out of hand, we can divide them into different categories within sections for different neighborhoods or group them in some logical way by vicinity even within neighborhoods. Bus

edit

Quote: Buses that originate or terminate in Florence run from the downtown bus station on Piazzale Montelungo next to SMN railway station.

Is this up to date? My Flixbus terminated in Villa Constanza. Maikel (talk) 22:58, 26 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
