Talk:Hebron

Latest comment: 7 years ago by Ikan Kekek in topic They even suggest you(r) being Jewish

The statement "A vast majority of the violence has been perpetrated by Israelis against Palestinians and the copious amount armed military men guarding the groups is evidence of the deep fraudulence." - is not supported by evidence, and is an expression of an anti-Israel bias of the writer. Only one murderous attack by an Israeli (Baruch Goldstein) against Arabs was recorded in Hebron. There were incidents of harrassment, curses, etc directed towards Arabs. On the other hand, the history of Arab attacks on Jewish civilians, in Hebron and elsewhere, is extensive; it includes many shooting episodes against civilians and military guards. It is also notable that the Jewish population had to leave Hebron after a massacre in 1929, ending many centuries of continuous coexistence with Arabs.

I do not see any of thoe words you complain about in the article? --(WT-en) Burmesedays 11:10, 7 January 2010 (EST)
Apologies, yes I do, In the Do section of all places. Will be removed as this is otherwise a very balanced article. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 11:12, 7 January 2010 (EST)

Hebron settler's tour

edit

I saw that my deletion of the "Hebron Settler's tour" from the do-section got reversed. My reason for removing the tour from list was and still is, that the tour is against the illegal activities policy of Wikivoyage. I know that, as I have participated in the tour myself, but even reading on the tours website gives a clear impression that it violates the basic human rights of the Palestinians living in the souk of Hebron. The Hebron Settler's tour starts in the Israeli occupied area around Shuhada street, and then goes through the souk, forcing Palestinian residents out of their own city. The soldiers accompanying the tour will routinely enter shops and homes of Palestinian families, thus violating the Protocol Concerning the Redeployment in Hebron, part of the Interim Agreement on the West Bank. For this reason, the tour is always monitored by the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) as well as by numerous international NGO's. Ikan Ekek stats in the page history that "We don't go by international law on this site, but by de facto control". The tour mostly takes place in the area of H1 which is under both legally and de facto control of the Palestinian Authorities, except for the 90 minutes every saturday when the tour takes place. I would suggest that the best way of dealing with this is not to delete the listing but to put just the kinds of explanations you just gave into the entry. I could give analogies to other activities of questionable legality but de facto possible that are covered on this guide, such as Urbex. But I'm not sure, now that I see these details, that this tour should in fact be listed at all, and I'd like some more opinions on this. Thanks for clarifying. Anyone else watching this thread? Your opinion - to list or not to list? Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:02, 26 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
So, What is the general procedure when there is a lack of discussion? I am still very much against listing the activity. Jeppe Robot (talk) 13:29, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
To get frustrated? We can try posting to Requests for comment, but I think it's OK if you re-delete the listing. Ikan Kekek (talk) 14:05, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

They even suggest you(r) being Jewish

edit

I might not have been right with "you being Jewish" ... but "your being" makes being a noun and cannot be right, can it?

Shall we rather say "They even suggest you're being Jewish ..." or "They even suggest you might be Jewish ..." ?

Yes, it's correct, which is why I deliberately made that edit. I can't find a reference for you easily, but it's right. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:04, 11 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
