Talk:Kathmandu Valley
Hey, so is "Bouddanath" or "Bodhnath" or something else the most common (American) English spelling? Comments? I'm going do a google vote too... we can always redirect from one to the other if both a valid. (WT-en) Majnoona 23:48, 31 Jan 2004 (EST)
- So I have a map in front of me saying "Boudhanath" for the stupa and "Bouddha" for the town. Google suggests "Boudhanath" or "Bodhnath" -- thoughts? (WT-en) Majnoona
Boudhanath is the way Tibetan scholars have written it since a long time and I feel this is how it should be written here since we want to be accurate.
"Boudhanath" looks accurate as that's how it is said in Nepali....
Should there be any specific listings at this regional level?
editI say no, there should be no listings for any of the organizations or courses listed between "Learn" and "Eat." But I thought I'd ask for comment before deleting everything, and have it on record whether we have agreed that every listing should be deleted here and reposted in the article for the nearest locality, or not. - I'll do some work on this page and if there are no objections, I will delete the listings. While I'm at that, I can see if there is a more appropriate place for them. That sound OK? Apparently not many strong feelings on the subject, but I do note that at least some of the material on this page (under the "See section) has been lifted verbatim from another website. The locations mentioned are worth seeing, but it's possible to write something up that will be better than what's there now. I have looked at the regional template and will try to adhere to that guideline.Dave.mcc (talk) 12:56, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- I removed the listings in question. They are already in the Kathmandu city article with exactly the same content. Let me know if I've jumped the gun on this.Dave.mcc (talk) 00:42, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking care of a task it looks like I forgot to follow through on. What about the content that you discovered was lifted from another page? That's serious if it's copyright violation, in which case it needs to be deleted right away and replaced with non-copypasta text that does not closely resemble copyrighted material. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:02, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- I don't recall which website it was from, but it was word-for-word and in the same order. I've already changed it so the problem should be gone now. It would seem that it was there for awhile.Dave.mcc (talk) 18:06, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- By the way, the offending section was part of the material transferred over from the the wikitravel site. Anyhow, it's fixed now.Dave.mcc (talk) 23:56, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Tour listings
editI just deleted the remaining links to tour agencies. There's no good reason to allow such links at the regional level. Wikivoyage:Tour requires complete listings including the address of the headquarters and phone number, and they cannot be listed except in the article for the locality where their headquarters are. Let's be vigilant and revert all additions of specific tour agency links or listings in this article. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:20, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Listing from article
editThere shouldn't be specific listings at the regional level, probably, but there's as yet no article for Changunarayan, so I'm moving this listing here for now:
- 1 Changu Narayan Temple, Changunarayan, ☏ +977 1-4256909. has a traditional Newari settlement and a Hindu temple with inscriptions from the 5th century.
When the village has a blue link, let's move it there. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:32, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
- It looks like Chobhar and Chobhar Galchi also need an article (I hope they're close together and one article would be enough). Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:38, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
