Name

While the official name is Stepantsminda, I never actually heard anyone call it that, and all signs on marshrutki at Didube were for Kazbegi. Maybe this has changed since I was there? If not, though, Wikivoyage ignores official designations and prefers the most common usage by English speakers. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 19:43, 12 June 2011 (EDT)

Pushkin

edit

I really want to include this poem, but haven't come up with a way to do so that wouldn't involve either destroying the formatting or removing all pictures. Any suggestions? Could this possibly be done outside of an infobox in the understand section? The content would help lengthen the article, which would actually be useful for this tiny, but magical place. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 19:43, 12 June 2011 (EDT)

Pushkin in the mountains

Monastery on Kazbek

High above the family of peaks,
Kazbek, your royal tent
shines with eternal rays.
Your monastery beyond the clouds,
like a flying ark in the sky,
floats, barely visible, above the peaks.

Oh distant long-desired haven!
Thence, having bid the gorge farewell,
I'd raise myself to free heights!
Thence, in my sanctuary beyond the clouds,
I'd stow away in the company of God!
--A. Pushkin

Rename to Stepantsminda?

Seems to be the more common English name, and the name that Wikipedia uses (keeping in mind that Wikipedia follows w:WP:COMMONNAME). --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 05:56, 11 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
